Besiktas interested in Liverpool assistant Lijnders
The Turkish club recently parted ways with Fernando Santos earlier this month and is currently searching for a new head coach, with high praise given to Klopp's assistant. Lijnders will depart Liverpool alongside Klopp next month, having stated explicitly in February that he would not seek to be the German manager's replacement.
The 41-year-old Dutch coach plans to embark on his own coaching career this summer and will continue to evaluate his options before starting a new challenge. Apart from Besiktas, he has also caught the attention of Ajax. However, Lijnders' immediate focus remains on Liverpool, and any decisions regarding his future will be formally made after the season ends.
Lijnders initially joined Liverpool in 2014 as the U16 coach and was promoted to the first-team coach by Rodgers the following year. He left in January 2018 and briefly managed Dutch side NEC Nijmegen, but Klopp offered him the assistant coach role five months later, prompting Lijnders to return to Merseyside and assist Klopp ever since.
